Ding Dong

One of the memorable things that happened to me was when I lived in Virginia Beach. I was chased by two crazy women. I was in sixth grade when this happened. I was with my boys, Jonny and Oscar. Oscar was a grade above me and Jonny was a grade above Oscar, and they were also my neighbors.  It was on a Saturday night. Oscar and I was playing basketball and Jonny was riding his skateboard.  Those days were the best. So, Jonny comes up to Oscar and me and said we should go ding dong ditching. Oscar and I was like okay and so we stopped playing basketball and went around the neighborhood.  We went around the corner and went to the park.  Once we got to the park we were swinging on the swings. It was about 9pm and pitch dark. The park was the place where we were going to hide and see the people come out of the house. Jonny picked the house which was about a 25 yards from the park’s entrance. Jonny goes up to the door and rings it like ten times and ran towards the park. I was hiding behind a bush and Oscar was hiding on the slide. Jonny comes running and dives right next to me. We all look at our first victim which also became our last victim for the night. A woman in her late teens came out and looked around the house. This girl was a fatty and also kinda short. So she looks around and then goes back inside and then looks out her window and then she gone. Now when we play ding dong ditch we keep ringing the same house if the person comes out. So this time it was Oscars turn. Oscar has a weird way of ringing door bells. He puts his finger under his shirt to ring the door bell. The reason why he does this because he think if the people call the cop, the cops would do a finger print test on the door bell. So he goes up all slowly and rings the door bell. He runs back and dives to the ground. This time two girls came out. One was holding a bowl of popcorn. They were both fatties. They go back inside and then look out the window for at least three minutes. Then finally it was my turn. I go up the walkway to the door. I put my index finger on the door bell. Jonny and Oscar are at the park waiting for me to ring the door bell. I press on the door bell once and all I hear is a little creek from the door. I look up and see the door open and then I take off, toward the play ground. When I took about two steps all I heard was HEY BOY! WE GOT YOU NOW! I was scared for my life. I see Jonny and Oscar running toward another house and jump the gate. I follow them and these girls might have been fatties but they were fast. Somehow I meet up with Jonny and Oscar at the fence which they were going to jump. I somehow was the first to get over it. All I hear is the two girls screaming on the other side of the fence. Then I see Jonny hop over and then Oscar. I think the girls got Oscar for at least a second because he was stuck at the top of the fence and me and Jonny had to pull him over. Now every time I ring a person’s house I think of this moment.
